Garden Route Golf Passport

The Golf Passport is an intriguing way of getting your golfing fix through pre-paid packages that offer a good variety of courses and great green fees. Originally launched as The Garden Route Golf Passport offering golf during the quiet winter months – when courses are in pristine condition and the Garden Route weather is still beautiful. Local and international golf enthusiasts realised they were getting access to top golf courses on the famous Garden Route at a fraction of the fee. The concept grew so popular that the obvious next step was the launch of alternative passports. The Garden Route has always been a popular golfing destination with world-class courses in Mossel Bay, George, Knysna and Plettenberg Bay. Ten courses have been selected from these areas to bring golfers a variety of Golf Passports on courses including; Fancourt, George Golf Club, Kingswood Golf Estate, Mossel Bay Golf Club, Pezula Championship Golf Course, Plettenberg Bay Country Club, Goose Valley Golf Club, Simola Golf Estate, Pinnacle Point Golf Resort and Oubaai Golf Estate. The one thing they all have in common is staggering views over ocean, lagoons, rivers and mountains. Mossel Bay for example is famed for having a view of the Indian Ocean from every tee, and each hole at Simola has broad vistas across the Knysna Lagoon and Knysna River, Pezula rates among the best and most scenic golf courses in the world, while Ernie Els comments that Oubaai is one of his all-time favourite courses (it is designed by Ernie).

There isn’t a single course on the Garden Route Golf Passport that can keep you from looking up and admiring the landscape. There are other notable features too; like, exceptional birdlife (including the colourful Knysna Lourie) at Plettenberg Bay Country Club, springbok grazing on the fairways at Mossel Bay, wind-free fairways at Simola and a great atmosphere in the bar at George Golf Course – giving it a reputation as the most popular watering hole. Friendliness and the quality of courses are often noted by passport golfers.

Passport holders score on price and availability too, with a round of golf at each of the participating courses, a hassle free booking service and expert advice on where to stay and what to do in the area from the tour operating arm of operator Forty-Two.

Spouses need not be excluded as there is an array of things to do and places to see along the Garden Route and professional consultants on hand with advice on accommodation, car hire and non-golf activities like spa and wellness treats.

A Garden Route Golf Passport makes an excellent gift for the golfer, and it can be a real treat for the partner too.
